What is ‘Safeguarding’ Children?
‘Safeguarding’ are safety measures or actions taken, to protect children from.
Safeguarding in our organisation means:
- protecting children from abuse and maltreatment
- preventing harm to children’s health or development
- ensuring children grow up with the provision of safe and effective care
- taking action to enable all children and young people to have the best outcomes.
At Mesh4Minds, we believe that every child, regardless of their age, disability, gender, tribe, religion or belief, has a right to equal protection from harm.
Setting up and following good safeguarding policies and procedures means children in our community are safe from harmful adults and other children who might pose a risk. This includes voluntary and community organisations like ours, faith groups, private sector providers, as well as schools, hospitals and sports clubs all doing their bit to help fight for children and protect their future.
Some of the things we do to ensure child safeguarding include:
- Preventing abuse in a position of Trust
- Managing allegations of Abuse
- Working with young volunteers
- social media online safety
- Training volunteers and tutors on safeguarding child protection
- Working with other voluntary organisations to put correct procedures in place as well as, respond appropriately to allegations and issues as they arise.
